In the mid-1950s, when Joseph Anthony’s mother began offering hair styling services from her home, she may not have realized she was founding a family dynasty. But her dedication to making neighborhood women beautiful planted seeds that would grow into one of the region’s premier salons and retreat day spas.

Following his mother’s tradition, Joseph Anthony opened his own salon in 1979 in the basement of his Boothwyn home. Six years later, he relocated his expanding business to then-rural Glen Mills, where it steadily grew in both clientele and prestige.

As the community flourished, so did the Salon. In 1995, Joseph Anthony's son joined the business, and together they broadened their range of services to include spa amenities and nail, face, and body treatments.

Today, the Joseph Anthony Retreat Spa and Salon is a state-of-the-art facility that provides a host of professional services in a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere – with an emphasis on personal attention to each client.
